John Vass is the Chief Executive Officer of Mathiesen Memorial Health Clinic (MMHC), a tribally affiliated rural health provider based in Jamestown, California. Under his leadership, MMHC has expanded its services to address critical health issues, including the opioid crisis affecting Native and non-Native youth in Tuolumne County. In 2021, MMHC received a $500,000 grant from the Indian Health Service to enhance its medication-assisted treatment programs and integrate culturally relevant care, including support from traditional healers.
