Going Green: Construction & Design with Environment in Mind

September 13, 2012     3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Respect for Nature and Mother Earth is an idea that runs deep throughout Indian Country. The rich cultural heritage and history of every tribe is unique and so we must build and construct in a way that minimizes any future environmental impacts. The best way to preserve the history of Native Americans is through architectural expression. A housing development project under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program will ensure that environmentally sound principles were employed at each step. LEED accredited professionals and tribal representatives will share their stories on how your tribe can protect the environment and preserve your tribe’s history.
